How we came together to create the House of Blue Hope

Breaking the cycle of poverty, one child at a time.

In East Africa, there are approximately 1.5 million children living on the streets, many of which are orphans or live in poverty. Due to living under these circumstances, many of these children are unable to go to go to school and get an education, meaning secure jobs are few and far between for the for the vast population of children forced to live on the streets. This lack of opportunity for stability and a proper education contribute to furthering the vicious cycle of poverty seen in this area of the world.

While teaching in Tanzania, Billy Bludgus recognized the vast gap in opportunities between children with access to education and those without and formed House of Blue Hope with the primary focus of tackling the issues of education, poverty, and children’s issues in Tanzania. As of now, ten years later, the mission of House of Blue Hope is to raise funds, resources, social awareness, and provide other support for a variety of self-sustaining social development projects and programs. Since its conception, House of Blue Hope has and continues to help get kids off the streets by providing a safe living and learning environment to give them every opportunity to success in life. And by doing so, hopefully break the cycle of poverty in East Africa, one child at a time.
